The Black Moor Scrolls, Volume 1
When April goes on her first date with the handsome Marcus, she never imagined it would be to another land beyond her small village of Picture Rocks. At first she believed it was a fantasy Halloween hayride. In reality it was a quest that led her to discover the six water pots Jesus turned water into wine! After defeating the evil Arckon, April becomes owner of his lands. With the assistance of Marcus, April sets out to make peace in the lands beyond Black Moor Farm.
The inhabitants of the lands, mostly hostile, sees April's prayers being answered by her God, they begin to ask her about her beliefs. Marcus supports her in bringing peace to his world. April doesn't realize that she ia a light in the dark lands. When she delivers the citizens of Savage Bay from a false god, her fame begins to spread that her God fights for her.
A fragile peace begins to take root that is soon threatened to vanish. A new, powerful enemy arrives that snatches entire populations and sends them into slavery. Marcus and April must somehow turn back this dark tide that strikes without warning. The only warning they get before the enemy attacks is a cry from the water dragons. With their backs against the wall, and encircled by a merciless foe, it will take a miracle to save them.
The Battle of High Stone Ridge was coming to an end. It was the last ridge before reaching the round, treeless summit. The weather, like the battle, was against the Glants. A warm sun shined with temperatures in the low forties. Usually Gost Mountain is covered in clouds concealing the round summit. Not a cloud in the blue sky.
On all sides of Gost Mountain war parties ascended with overwhelming power motivated by years of vengeance for those who had died before. A young Marcus was in a group of thirty soldiers, many of them seasoned warriors, were closest to the summit.
The veterans talked bravely how favor was on their side. The sense the war was about to end filled their talk and minds. The cold wind couldn't hinder their momentum. The tale of Marcus, Guardian of the Flaming Sword, was unfolding, that would save an empire.
In a short period of time change had come to Black Moor Farm. Marcus the Archer and April of Black Moore have grown deeper in love. Their enemies are opposed to the new Black Moor which desires peace with its numerous neighbors.
The Breakers are determined to keep April from her desire to sit on the throne next Marcus. They fear her influence will change kingdoms and lands by introducing peace and light to the world.
Determined to not allow the Breakers from stopping them, Marcus and April plan to forge ahead to claim their destiny.
The high seas was the fastest means of travel, but the deadliest for big ships and daring crews. It wasn't what lurked beneath the waves the ships feared, but the pirates, raiders, and rogues whom blatantly attacked any merchant vessel, even the heaviest armed.
Thousands of islands are inhabited by bizarre creatures from a Medusa-style creature to the wonder of flying horses who share the skies with flying sharks!
Marcus the Archer and April of Black Moor are invited to King Zijev's coronation. Zijev sends his best admiral and the pride of the Stinbald fleet, the Flying Star, to transport the Black Moor couple to his coronation. Marcus takes advantage of the invitation to explore the seas as part of his five year quest to explore Varna.
Knowing the risks Marcus and April embark on a sea journey that will expose treachery, betrayal, and expose how far the Breakers will go to prevent April from sitting on the throne next to Marcus when he becomes emperor of the great Bast Empire.
Later when Marcus is kidnapped by the beautiful Tysura of Pentark it will take not only April's courage to get him back, but help from her friends. The women reluctantly use their beauty to disarm a mysterious rogue, Nightmare, who is employed by Tysura. The risks are high as it appears Nightmare knows the secrets of April and her companions.
The dangerous rogue, Nightmare claims to know April. This causes April lots of trouble with the ruler of Massena Kroy who refuses her to enter the port side kingdom to find a ship to Pentark. April makes new allies to board an advanced ship armed with cannons, a weapon new to the high seas of Varna.
The decision to start raiding caravans frpm the Crossroads was not an easy choice. Marcus the Archer and April of Black Moor had to send a message to the Breakers to stop interfering with their destiny to be rulers of the mountainous Bast Empire. By striking at the wealth of the Breakers the young couple hoped to find clues to what the sinister Breakers were plotting. What they uncovered led them to believe that the Breakers were using Far Land techto instill fear in the people they ruled over.
By following ancient passages, and sailing a raging, old river, did they learn the extent the Breakers would go to stay in power, hoping to dominate all kingdoms and lands on Varna.
Having been given a special ring by Marcus that made April invulnerable, she sets out on a quest with her two best friends to find Marcus a gift equal to the ring he gave her.
Sailing the Eridanus River it is revealed a powerful civilization established the mysterious passages located around the planet, and beyond the solar system! What they would on the roads to the past would change Varna's future forever.
A fragile alliance is forged between old enemies to battle an ancient foe. The struggle is to keep the alliance from falling apart before it's too late for all involved.
The sixth book in the Black Moor Series should be out winter of 2024. It was one of my goals to write a volume set. The first scroll in the series, "The Hayride" was dream inspired!
Likewise "Realm of the Laughing Unicorns" was inspired by a dream.
I have enough material to write a 7th Black Moor Scroll, but decided to end the series to move on to other projects.
The first two books, "Cry of the Water Dragons" and "The Guardian of the Flaming Sword" got me nominated in England for "Best New Storyteller of the English Language" for the years 2018 and 2019.
The cover of the 3rd Volume, "The Sojouners" had to have the title design redone. The title was originally in cursive, but readers complained they couldn't read cursive, so the title was redone in standard print, much to the anger of the title designer who didn't appreciate her creativity having to be undone.
